Does the City of Donnellson provide for sidewalk repairs?: Yes. The City of Donnellson has funding assistance available for sidewalk repairs. This program is available to residents, rental properties, churches and organizations. The City will reimburse half the cost of the replacement, up to $250. As a courtesy, the City will tear out and dispose of your old sidewalk. Call City Hall at 835-5714 to sign up.
Who is responsible for a tree planted on the city right of way?: The landowner. It is actually against City Code to plant on the right of way.
Is there a law against open burning?: No. However, there IS a law against burning garbage. Garbage collection is every Tuesday.
How many bags can I put out for garbage pickup?: Two bags or cans not to exceed 33 gals or 50 lbs. Anything more must have a bag tag, available at City Hall or at local gas stations.
When is the Free Clinic in town?: The Free Clinic is at the Pilot Grove Savings Bank Community Room on the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 2:00 to 4:00.
When is Apple Daze?: Apple Daze is the 3rd weekend in September.
This year it is Sept 15th & 16th, 2007.
Does Donnellson have a leash law?: Yes. Animals are not permitted to run at large.
What do I do if a streetlight is out?: Contact City Hall at 835-5714.
How do I reserve the Community Room?: Contact Pilot Grove Savings Bank at 835-5131.
How do I reserve the Westview Park shelter house?: Contact Michelle Bryant at 835-9007.
Can I reserve the shelter house at Depot Park?: No. The shelter house is on a first come/first serve basis.
Is there a Motel in town?: Yes. Phone 319-835-9611. Located close to the junction of Highway 2 and 218.
Does Donnellson have recycling available?: Yes. The City of Donnellson maintains a recycling drop off site behind City Hall. More information is available at City Hall.
When is Yard Waste Pickup?: Yard waste is twice a month -- the second Monday and the last Wednesday of each month, April thru November. Bags are available at City Hall.
Is there a local newspaper?: The Donnellson Star is the local paper and the official city paper. Phone 837-6232.

Where can I renew my drivers license?: Licensing is available at either Lee County Treasurers' Office in Ft. Madison or Keokuk.

The Ft Madison office is open Mondays and Tuesdays. (10th St & Ave H) Phone 319/372-3405. 10 am to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

The Keokuk office is open Wednesdays and Thursdays. (25 N 7th St) Phone 319/524-1550. 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m.

No commercial drivers license pre-trip skills or road testing will be done in the Keokuk office, just renewals and written tests on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Where do I get a key for the 'dump'?: Keys are available from City Hall, Russell and Gene, Chief Brandon Fowler and Mayor Bill Young.

Only trees and limbs maybe taken to the dump, due to IDNR restrictions.

What Internet providers are available in Donnellson?: Donnellson was the first town in Lee Co. to provide high-speed internet service to its residents. If I am building a deck, do I need a building permit?: Yes. No building or other structure shall be erected or altered without receiving a permit.
A permit is available at City Hall and costs $10. A plot diagram must accompany the permit.
